| Dear Friends of the Jonestown Family Center,
Happy New Year to all our friends! May 2012 bring you and your loved ones peace and joy. Christmas at the Family Center was lots of fun. Not only did we have pictures with Santa, but, thanks to all of you who sent stockings, candy, books, toothbrushes, toys, mittens, caps etc., we were able to give the children of all ages wonderful Christmas gifts. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and support all during the year.
Last month we held a health fair and open house to dedicate the new Fit-Trail exercise system behind the Timothy Burrell Center and in front of the track. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi gave a grant to purchase the equipment and also to add more treadmills and elliptical machines to the Fitness and Health Club. This month we’re adding two new wellness programs: Senior Fitness and Kids in Motion.
Many senior citizens are interested in maintaining their strength, balance, and muscle tone, so we are offering classes four mornings a week at the Fitness and Health Club.
“Kids in Motion” is an outgrowth of Jonestown in Motion. Many parents and grandparents want their children to be more physically active and to get off the couch or in front of the video screen. Our wonderful Jonestown in Motion exercise instructor, William Holley, will offer soccer, ball games, and other fun games weekly until May and daily during the summer. Our goals are to help Jonestown citizens of all ages feel strong and healthy. Thanks to the Adrian Dominican Sisters and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of MS Foundation for supporting the health of people in Jonestown.
Gratefully, in Christ,
Sr. Teresa Shields, SNJM
and JFC Staff
